Sesame seeds are rich in oil with a mild, nutty and earthy taste. This taste is intensified by lightly toasting. Black coloured sesame seeds are better suited to strongly flavoured recipes in comparison to pale-coloured seeds that work well in sweet applications and to make pastes like tahini. Particularly popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Also, an appealing garnish for all kinds of food.
Sesame seeds are susceptible to going rancid due to their high oil content, we recommend storing them in the fridge, as they will keep longer.
