Aleppo chiles, also known as Halaby peppers, have a mild to medium heat with a tart, fruity flavour. Their aroma and flavour is reminiscent of raisins, roasted tobacco, pomegranate and sun-dried tomato. They add texture and a wonderful complexity to dishes and can easily be used in place of common red pepper flakes. 

Aleppo chiles are historically from the Syrian city by the same name, however, the conflict in the region has sadly extinguished the world's supply. As we wait for the Syrian town, people and chile to make a revival, these chiles are produced over the nearby border in Turkey. 

Mild Heat: 2,500-5,000 Scoville Heat Units
