One of the world's most popular and traded spices, with a long history of many expeditions and wars. Pepper produces a heat that is not flavour or fragrance, but a pain like sensation similar to the heat from chile peppers. A grind of pepper perks up almost any meal, a table staple for a reason, best-served ground fresh. Black pepper is produced by picking immature green berries, briefly fermenting and then drying them. The aroma has woody, floral, fruity and citrus elements. Our butcher's grind is 10 mesh, which is a coarse grind.
