Autumn Apple Pie (180 mL jar)
Delicious and aromatic, this blend imparts a perfect sweet spice flavour to all things apple. Of course, this blend contains cinnamon, two varieties in fact, both Korintje and Saigon. Along with other warm spices like nutmeg and allspice. Use it in your next apple pie, tart, cobbler, galette, fritter, or cake! Also a great addition to waffle batter, french toast or any baked treat that could benefit from a little warm spice.
Chai Masala (180 mL jar)
When you hear chai, your mind likely jumps right to tea, which makes sense as chai means tea in Hindi. And of course, you could easily add 1/4 tsp of this blend to your favourite steeped black tea along with milk and sweetener for a convenient Indian spiced tea. But, this perfectly spiced blend featuring Saigon cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, star anise, nutmeg and more, is delightful in many other applications like spiced cakes, creamy pastries and to flavour frosting or whipped cream.
Ginger - Ground (180 mL jar)
Ginger has a hot and peppery taste, with fresh and citrus notes. Commonly used in baking and spice blends. Ground ginger is stronger and more aromatic than fresh ginger, like pepper without the heat. Native to China and India, the name is derived from the Sanskrit word meaning "horn root." It was one of the first Asian spices to reach Europe.
Green Cardamom - Whole (120 mL jar)
Highly aromatic and sweet with a peppery finish, referred to as "the Queen of spices." Native to southern India and Sri Lanka, however, Guatemala is now the world's largest producer. Popular in Indian cuisine, but also Scandinavian bread and pastries, and Middle Eastern coffee and tea preparations. A very versatile spice underused in North America. Sweet and more suitable for desserts than smoky, black cardamom, but also can be used in savoury applications.
Lavender Vanilla Sugar (120 mL jar)
Gently floral from English lavender buds and perfumed with luxurious Madagascar vanilla beans, this sugar blend is a wonderful finishing sugar. Sprinkle it on fresh fruit like strawberries or raspberries. It makes an excellent addition to desserts in particular whipped cream, custards or sugar cookies. Also can be used as a drink rimmer or to impart flavour into tea.
Nutmeg - Whole (30g flat pack)
Did you know nutmeg and mace are from the same plant? Nutmeg is the kernel inside and mace is the reddish aril or blade wrapped around the seeds shell. Native to the "spice islands" in Indonesia, previously one of the most sought-after and expensive spice in Europe. Used extensively across all continents in both savoury and sweet dishes. Nutmeg is used more commonly as it is less expensive than mace but also has a different full-bodied flavour profile, compared to mace's delicate, less robust flavour.
Perfect Pumpkin Pie (180 mL jar)
As you may know, in recent years pumpkin spice has evolved beyond classic Thanksgiving pies. Use this blend to perfect your homemade pumpkin spice latte or PSL if you please. It also works surprisingly well in savoury applications like pumpkin soup, on butternut squash or sweet potatoes. Obviously, it's also great in pumpkin desserts like pie, cakes, cheesecakes, granola and more! You really can't go wrong with Saigon cinnamon and other sweet and warming spices.
Saigon Cinnamon - Ground (180 mL jar)
Saigon cinnamon has the highest volatile oil content and therefore is punchy and strongly flavoured. Cinnamon does not taste sweet itself but enhances sweetness in other ingredients.
